About Me
- Name: Dave
- Location: Mountain View, California, United States
I'm a 30-something gay software engineer. I live and work in Mountain View, and play in San Francisco and san Jose. In my spare time I act and write plays. Why "bigreddave"? What else would a 6'5" redhead call his blog?

I know that you're of German heritage, and that your family still has some German Christmas traditions. Is that advent wreath one of these customs, or do many Americans have those?
Happy (belated) 3rd of Advent!

Advent wreaths are common in churches, of course, but not in homes.
If one does have an Advent wreath, it will most likely be like the one you showed on your blog: four candles embedeed in evergreen cuttings. Mine, a rather spare glass wreath, is an unusual style.
And three of the candles are purple; the one I lit last night is pink. Those are the traditional colors, though I've seen churches with four white candles instead.
